Tutorial 6: Time to Unlock some....Doors?

Power Up and Collectible: Lesson Six

With this Tutorial we will be creating something to open New Areas, Chest and of course... Secret Doors

Things you will learn in this Lesson:

Difference

Unions

Free Drawing Lines

Step 1: In today's Lesson we will start with making An Oval Shape with the Circle Tool (As Previous Lessons) And then Duplicate that shape (Ctrl+D) and Scale it down and Align it in the Middle of the original Oval as the Picture below.

Step 2: Select both the Oval shapes with Left Click + Shift and go to Path in the Top Tool Bar and click on Difference, This will create a Hollow Oval Shape as below.

Step 3: Next we will make a Rectangle Shape with the Square Tool (As again with previous Lessons). Create a rectangle like the shape below.

Step 4: Create some more Rectangles like the Shapes below for the end of the Key, Again Colour doesn't matter at this Point.

Step 5: Select all the Shapes in the Asset (Shift + Left Click, Or Drag over them all with the Select Tool) and go to Path again, But this time Click on Union. This will make the Shapes into One (Move the Rectangle into the Oval like below).

Step 6: Now add a Stroke (Black) by Holding down Shift and Left Clicking the Black Colour in the Colour Box at the Bottom of the Screen

Step 7: Now to Free draw Lines, Go to the tool Indicated below. Hold down CTRL while you go from Point A to B (Two Clicks) and Duplicate that Line and Move it below like the Picture.

Step 8: Duplicate the Shape of the Key as Before (Ctrl+D) And move it slightly down,

Then Select both shapes as before. Then again we will go into the Path Tool and Click Difference.

Step 9: This Cut Shape now is a Highlight so make it a Light Yellow colour (Colour Wheel is CTRL + SHIFT + F). Also change the Key Colour now to a Yellow Colour. Remove the Stroke in the Colour Wheel (Stroke Tab).

Step 10: Repeat the above Step with Difference to Cut another Key Shape, This time it is a Shadow (Leave the Lines on it) and make it a Darker Yellow Colour.

Step 11: Now create the Shading for the Lines in the Key as below, By Duplicating the 2 Stroke lines, And Changing them into the Same Dark Colour as the Last Shadow. Then put them behind the original strokes with Page Down (After Selecting them, One at a time).

And there you have it!

You have now created a key to Open any lock for your Game!

Great work and look at tackling some more of these!

You can Donate $0.99 to also get the SVG for this Lesson,
